There are various heat dissipation solutions for outdoor LED display billboards, with the main strategies revolving around increasing the heat dissipation area, accelerating heat transfer, and utilizing airflow and radiation. Aluminum heat sinks are the most common method, significantly increasing the heat dissipation area by incorporating aluminum into the outer casing.

Fan cooling is a cost-effective option, with long-life, high-efficiency fans installed inside the lamp housing to enhance heat dissipation performance. Heat pipe technology effectively conducts heat from the LED display chip to the outer casing's heat sink fins, forming an efficient heat dissipation path. Aerodynamic principles are also utilized, creating convection airflow through the lamp housing's shape design to achieve cost-effective enhanced heat dissipation.

The strategy of using thermally conductive plastic shells involves filling the plastic shell with thermally conductive materials during injection molding, improving the overall thermal conductivity and dissipation capacity of the shell. Radiative heat dissipation involves applying a radiative heat-dissipating paint to the lamp housing surface, using radiation to carry away heat, forming a simple and effective heat dissipation mechanism.

The heat dissipation solutions also differ depending on the installation method. For column-mounted installations, fan cooling is preferred to ensure that rainwater does not enter the display screen. The fans should be installed above the aluminum composite panel on the back of the large screen and designed with louvers to promote air convection. For double-column installations, a louvered air intake should be installed in the middle, with the upper fan serving as the exhaust outlet, forming a complete air circulation and improving heat dissipation.

For wall-mounted installations, the heat dissipation strategy must consider the size of the outdoor LED display protruding from the wall. If it protrudes more than one meter, select an appropriate number of axial fans and install them on the upper side of the screen, ensuring that the fans face outwards to prevent injury to maintenance personnel. Furthermore, aluminum alloy louvers should be installed at the fan outlets for waterproofing. If the display area is large, such as an 80-square-meter P16 outdoor full-color LED screen, six axial fans with a diameter of approximately 600mm should be configured to ensure effective heat dissipation, and safety measures such as protective netting and louvers should be taken.
