LED Display Unit Board Common Sizes and Selection Guide

I. P4 Unit Board: Representative of Indoor High-Density Displays

Common Size: 128mm × 128mm

The P4 unit board has a pixel pitch of 4mm, classifying it as a high-density indoor display. In indoor environments, a 4mm pitch supports viewing distances of 3-5 meters, with significantly better image detail than P5 and higher products. Its compact 128mm × 128mm size facilitates assembly into large screens of various aspect ratios.

Applicable Scenarios
P4 unit boards are commonly used in indoor settings where a certain level of clarity is required but budget constraints are necessary, such as:

Small to medium-sized conference rooms: When playing PPT presentations or video conferences, text edges are clear, with no noticeable graininess.

Shopping mall signage: Customers can enjoy a good reading experience from 2-3 meters away.

Hotel banquet halls, school auditoriums, and other medium-distance viewing scenarios.

Advantages and Disadvantages Analysis

Advantages: Higher resolution, finer image, and better color reproduction; Disadvantages: Compared to P5 and P6, it has more LEDs per unit area, resulting in a relatively higher cost.

II. P5 Unit Board: Indoor Medium-Density All-Round Type

Common Size: 160mm × 160mm

The P5 unit board has a pixel pitch of 5mm, making it one of the most widely used specifications for indoor LED displays. It achieves a good balance between clarity and cost, and the 160mm × 160mm size is the industry's "standard module," offering strong compatibility and ample supply.

Applicable Scenarios

Indoor Stage Background: Main or side screens for concerts, annual meetings, and galas, providing a smooth and vibrant image even at viewing distances of 5 meters or more.

Corporate Showrooms: High cost-effectiveness for displaying corporate promotional videos, product demonstrations, etc.

Temporary Rental Activities: Due to its durability and ease of disassembly, the P5 unit board is the preferred choice for many rental screen manufacturers.

Advantages and Disadvantages Analysis

Advantages: Balances clarity and cost, moderate brightness, and easy installation and maintenance; Disadvantages: Graininess is noticeable at viewing distances less than 3 meters, unsuitable for close-up, detailed displays.

III. P16 Unit Board: Mainstay for Long-Distance Outdoor Displays

Common Size: 256mm × 256mm

The P16 unit board has a pixel pitch of 16mm, classifying it as a low-density outdoor display. Due to its sparse pixel density and fewer LEDs per unit area, it prioritizes brightness and protection over close-range clarity. The large 256mm × 256mm module effectively reduces the number of panels required for high-altitude outdoor operations, improving installation efficiency.

Applicable Scenarios

Plaza Outdoor Billboards: Pedestrians or vehicles typically view from 10-30 meters away; the graininess of the P16 is perfectly acceptable at long distances.

Sports Stadium Exteriors: Such as football stadium fencing screens and large screens opposite the stands, primarily displaying scores, sponsor logos, etc.

Side-mounted giant screen on buildings: Used to display brand logos, short advertising slogans, etc.

Key Features: P16 unit boards typically have an IP65 or higher waterproof and dustproof rating and use high-brightness LEDs (5000cd/m² or higher), remaining clearly visible even in direct sunlight. However, their pixelation is very noticeable up close, making them unsuitable for installation in areas with high pedestrian traffic.

IV. P25 Unit Board: Outdoor Ultra-Low Density Long-Distance Display
Common Size: 200mm × 200mm

The P25 has a pixel pitch of 25mm, classifying it as an outdoor ultra-low density display. While its resolution is lower, it boasts high structural strength and relatively low power consumption, specifically designed for outdoor advertising scenarios requiring long-distance viewing.

Applicable Scenarios

Highway side billboards: With vehicles traveling at 80-120km/h, drivers can scan the screen from tens of meters away; the P25 is sufficient to convey simple text or graphic information.

Building rooftop signage: Installed high on buildings, facing pedestrian traffic hundreds of meters away.

Indicator screens for large industrial sites such as mines and ports.

Content Adaptation Recommendations: Due to its low resolution, the P25 unit board is not suitable for playing high-definition videos or complex images. Optimal content includes: large-font text (such as "Welcome to XX Shopping Mall"), simple arrow patterns, and flashing promotional slogans.

V. P37.5 Unit Board: Dedicated for Ultra-Large Pitch Long-Distance Displays
Common Size: 300mm × 300mm

The P37.5 unit board boasts a pixel pitch of 37.5mm, making it a typical example of ultra-large pitch outdoor displays. Its unit board size is correspondingly increased to 300mm × 300mm, with a single module area approaching 0.1 square meters, significantly reducing overall seams and installation workload.

Applicable Scenarios:

Mountain Advertising: Giant billboards located in mountainous or hilly areas, where viewers may view them from 100 meters or even further away.

Large Stadium Exteriors: Outdoor guidance screens for events such as the World Cup and the Olympics, requiring only basic entry information.

Extremely high advertising spaces along both sides of urban overpasses.

Limitations: The P37.5 has an extremely low pixel density; upon close inspection, the image consists entirely of individual light dots, devoid of any detail. Therefore, it is completely unsuitable for indoor or close-range viewing, serving only the specific needs of "ultra-long distance, ultra-large size, and minimalist content."
