Seven essential professional terms for LED full-color electronic displays:

1. LED Brightness

Answer: LED brightness refers to the luminous intensity of a light-emitting diode, measured in candela (cd). The luminous intensity of a single indoor LED is typically 500 microcandela (ucd) to 50 millicandela (mcd), while the luminous intensity of a single outdoor LED is typically 100 mcd to 1000 mcd, or even higher. Brightness is one of the important indicators for evaluating the visual effect of an LED display.

2. LED Pixel Module

Answer: An LED pixel module refers to a module in which LEDs are arranged in a matrix or segment and prefabricated to a standard size. Commonly used modules for indoor displays are 88-pixel modules and 7-segment digital modules, while outdoor displays have pixel modules with specifications such as 44, 88, and 816 pixels. Because each pixel of an outdoor display consists of two or more LED bundles, it is also called a bundled module.

3. Pixel and Pixel Diameter

Answer: In an LED display, each individually controllable LED light-emitting unit (dot) is called a pixel (or image). The pixel diameter (∮) refers to the diameter of each pixel, measured in millimeters. The size of the pixel diameter directly affects the resolution and sharpness of the display.

4. Resolution

Answer: The resolution of an LED display refers to the number of rows and columns of its pixels. Resolution is the total number of pixels on the display, which determines the information capacity and display effect of a display. The higher the resolution, the richer the information the display can show, and the clearer the image.

5. Grayscale

Answer: Grayscale refers to the degree of brightness variation of a pixel. A primary color typically has 8 to 12 grayscale levels. The higher the grayscale level, the richer the color gradation of the display, and the more delicate the image. For example, if each primary color has 256 grayscale levels, a dual-color screen can display 256 × 256 = 64K colors, also known as a 256-color display. 6. Dual-Primary Color

Answer: A dual-primary-color LED display refers to a display where each pixel has two LED chips: one red and one green. When the red chip is lit, the pixel displays red; when the green chip is lit, the pixel displays green; and when both chips are lit simultaneously, the pixel displays yellow. Red and green are called primary colors. By adjusting the brightness ratio of red and green, different colors can be displayed.

7. Full-Color

Answer: A full-color LED display refers to an LED display that adds a blue primary color to the dual-primary-color display, resulting in a full-color display. Since the technology for using blue and pure green LED chips to create full-color displays is mature, most LED displays on the market use full-color technology. Full-color displays can display richer colors and more realistic images, representing an important direction in the development of LED display technology.
