I. Lightning Protection
1. Direct Lightning Strike Protection: If the outdoor LED screen is not within the direct lightning strike protection range of nearby tall buildings, a lightning rod must be installed on or near the top of the steel structure of the display screen.
2. Induced Lightning Protection: The power supply system of the outdoor LED display screen should have Level 1-2 power surge protection, and signal lines should be equipped with signal surge protectors. Simultaneously, the power supply system of the equipment room should have Level 3 surge protection, and signal surge protectors should be installed at the signal input/output points of the equipment in the equipment room.
3. All LED display screen lines (power and signal) should be shielded and buried underground.
4. The grounding system of the outdoor LED display screen front end and the equipment room should meet system requirements. Generally, the front end grounding resistance should be less than or equal to 4 ohms, and the equipment room grounding resistance should be less than or equal to 1 ohm.
II. Heavy Rain Protection
Southern regions experience frequent rainfall, so LED displays themselves must have a high level of waterproof protection to avoid rain damage. In outdoor environments, outdoor LED displays must achieve an IP65 protection rating. Modules must be encapsulated with potting compound, waterproof enclosures must be used, and waterproof gaskets must be used to connect the modules and enclosures.
III. Typhoon Protection Outdoor LED displays are installed in various locations and with different methods, including wall-mounted, recessed, column-mounted, and suspended installations. Therefore, during typhoon season, strict requirements are placed on the load-bearing steel frame structure of the display to prevent it from falling. Engineering units must strictly adhere to typhoon resistance standards in their design and installation, while also ensuring sufficient seismic resistance to prevent the outdoor LED display from falling and causing injury or death.
