As the heart of an LED display, the driver power supply is crucial for its stable and safe operation. During the rainy season, timely safety protection and maintenance are essential. Here's a 5-minute overview of outdoor LED displays. So, how should outdoor LED driver power supplies be protected and maintained during the rainy season?

How to Protect Outdoor LED Displays from Lightning, Electricity, and Rain During Heavy Rain

1. Multiple Measures for Lightning Protection

Ensure proper power grounding. The display equipment should use a common ground wire structure, i.e., a unified "three-ground" system (equipment working ground, power ground, and lightning protection ground).

Note: When using our products in areas prone to strong lightning strikes or in buildings with inadequate lightning protection measures outdoors, please install lightning protection facilities on the input side. Alternatively, you can contact the screen manufacturer's customer service personnel for a comprehensive lightning protection solution.

2. Control Humidity

Maintain the humidity of the environment where the LED display screen or system is located. Do not allow anything with moisture to enter the area where your LED screen or system is located.

Note: When using in humid areas or during rainy seasons, and when the product is not continuously operating 24 hours a day, please use a power supply product with three-proof coating (moisture-proof, mildew-proof, and fog-proof) to ensure the safety of your system.

3. Proactive Protection: Actively protect the power supply to avoid potential problems. Keep items that may damage it away from the power source. When cleaning the LED screen or system, wipe gently to prevent water damage and minimize the possibility of injury.

4. Control Usage Time: It is recommended to use the LED screen at least once a week during the rainy season. Generally, turn on the screen or system at least once a month for at least 2 hours.

5. Keep the power supply area away from water, iron powder, and other easily conductive metal objects. The driver power supply should be placed in a low-dust environment, as excessive dust can damage the circuitry. If water gets inside for any reason, immediately disconnect the power and contact a repair technician.

Note: Do not force it to power on!

6. Prevent Overheating: The LED display cabinet has a sealed interior with no airflow (it is recommended to install louvered rainproof windows with bottom air intake and top exhaust). Recommendation: When selecting a power supply, a 30% power margin should be reserved to prevent overheating and damage during operation.

Damage caused by overload (current) and excessive input voltage: Avoid prolonged exposure to fully white, fully red, fully green, or fully blue screens, as this can cause excessive load current, overheating, and shorten the power supply's lifespan. Maintain a stable power supply and ensure proper grounding to prevent lightning strikes. Do not use the power supply in severe weather conditions, especially during strong thunderstorms.
