What specifications are used for indoor LED displays?

LED display specifications include several types: model specifications, module size specifications, and cabinet size specifications. Here, we will mainly discuss the model specifications used for indoor LED displays, as the modules and cabinets are selected based on the display size ratio when designing the solution.

Indoor LED displays mainly use P1.9, P1.8, P1.6, P1.5, P1.2, and P0.9. The industry refers to models below P2 as small-pitch LED displays.

Why are small-pitch LED displays used indoors? Because when viewing from a close distance indoors, the image on the display needs to be clear, and the brightness should not be too high. Conventional models above P3 have higher brightness, and if used indoors for extended periods, they can easily cause visual fatigue, making them unsuitable. In addition, LED displays are made of individual LED beads. The larger the model number, the more pronounced the pixelation. With P3, the pixelation is already noticeable at close range, and the closer you get, the more pronounced it becomes.

LED displays are divided into outdoor and indoor types for several reasons: firstly, models below P2 do not meet outdoor brightness standards; secondly, large-sized LED displays have noticeable pixelation when viewed from a close distance, making them unsuitable for close viewing; and thirdly, the required configuration varies depending on the environment. Outdoor displays require good protection: shockproof, waterproof, moisture-proof, electrical protection, and heat dissipation.
