The main issues with outdoor LED displays are as follows:
(1) The display screen is installed outdoors, constantly exposed to sunlight, rain, wind, and dust, resulting in a harsh working environment. Electronic equipment getting wet or severely damp can cause short circuits or even fires, leading to malfunctions and damage;
(2) The display screen may be subjected to strong electrical and magnetic attacks caused by lightning;
(3) The ambient temperature fluctuates greatly. The display screen itself generates a certain amount of heat during operation. If the ambient temperature is too high and heat dissipation is poor, the integrated circuits may malfunction or even burn out, preventing the display system from working properly;
(4) It has a wide audience, requiring long viewing distances and a wide field of view; the ambient light changes significantly, especially with the possibility of direct sunlight.
To address these special requirements, outdoor LED displays must meet the following criteria:
(1) The screen body and the connection between the screen body and the building must be strictly waterproof and leak-proof; the screen body must have good drainage measures to ensure that any accumulated water can be drained smoothly;
(2) Install lightning protection devices on the display screen and the building. The main body and casing of the display screen should be well-grounded, with a grounding resistance of less than 3 ohms, allowing the large current caused by lightning to be discharged in a timely manner;
(3) Install ventilation equipment for cooling, keeping the internal temperature of the screen body between -10℃ and 40℃. Install axial fans above the back of the screen body to dissipate heat;
(4) Select industrial-grade integrated circuit chips with an operating temperature range of -40℃ to 80℃ to prevent the display screen from failing to start due to excessively low temperatures in winter;
(5) To ensure visibility at long distances under strong ambient light, ultra-high brightness LEDs must be used;
(6) The display medium uses a new type of wide-angle tube with a wide viewing angle, pure and consistent colors, and a lifespan exceeding 100,000 hours. The outer packaging of the display medium is the most popular square tube with a sunshade, sealed with silicone, and without metal assembly; its appearance is exquisite and beautiful, sturdy and durable, and has "five-proof" features: protection against direct sunlight, dust, water, high temperature, and circuit short circuits.
