How to ensure fire prevention for LED displays?

The key to fire-resistant LED display technology applications is closely related to the fire-resistant raw materials and cabinet technology. Fire-resistant raw materials consist of four layers: the wiring and power supply used internally in the LED display, the fire-resistant materials of the external safety protection structure, and the plastic components.

1. In most LED display applications, the larger the display area per unit area, the higher the power consumption, and the higher the requirements for the stability of the conductor's current conduction. Among many wire products, only those meeting national standards can guarantee safety and reliability. These standards include three requirements: the wire core is a copper conductor, the cross-sectional area tolerance of the wire core is within the standard range, and the insulation and flame retardancy of the rubber covering the wire core meet standard specifications, unlike ordinary copper-clad aluminum wire cores. Wires with smaller core cross-sectional areas and insufficient insulation rubber grades have more stable current-carrying performance and are less prone to short circuits.

2. UL-certified power products are the best choice in the industry. Their reasonable conversion efficiency can ensure the safe and stable operation of the power load and enable normal operation in hot external environments.

3. Regarding the materials used in the external safety protection structure of LED displays, most display products on the market with high fire resistance are made of fire-resistant aluminum composite panels. These panels possess excellent fire resistance, fire safety, and flame retardancy. The core material has strong oxygen aging resistance, a melting point of 135°C, a decomposition temperature of 300°C, and is environmentally friendly (UL94 halogen-free, SGS compliant), with flame retardancy ratings of B-S1, d0, t0, and reference usage standards. However, aluminum composite panels in ordinary outdoor display products age rapidly under high temperatures and rain. In relatively humid climates, rainwater and dew can easily seep into the screen, causing short circuits in electronic components and fires.

4. A key component in the fire-resistant raw materials for LED displays is the plastic housing. The plastic housing, primarily used as the raw material for the unit module's mask and bottom shell, is made of flame-retardant PC glass fiber. This material not only has flame-retardant properties but also does not deform or become brittle or prone to cracking under high and low temperatures and long-term use. It can be directly bonded with adhesives with good sealing properties, effectively preventing rainwater from seeping into the interior and causing short circuits and fires.

5. Without breakthroughs in key raw materials such as LED chips, increasing current will not improve brightness.

Furthermore, internal raw materials affect the actual fire resistance. External configuration is just as crucial as design, but a key aspect of external configuration is heat dissipation in fire prevention. During operation, the display screen is equipped with exhaust fans and air conditioners for internal heat dissipation. It is recommended that each 1P square production line have 8-10 air conditioners to ensure a consistently normal internal temperature. Improper air conditioning or exhaust fan configurations and uneven heat distribution can easily lead to overheating and internal safety risks. Additionally, many LED display screen manufacturers only simulate the effects of sprayed waterproofing under environmental conditions when testing the cabinet's protection level. The actual durability and strength of the waterproofing effect need to be verified, leading to water leakage after a period of use. This is a key reason why outdoor displays are prone to fire or have short lifespans. When dealing with thunderstorms, surge protectors are essential for the screen equipment. They are specialized tools to prevent lightning strikes and damage to internal components, and also allow lightning to enter the road surface, reducing the risk of damage to the screen.

6. Proper Installation

Because full-color LED displays are primarily composed of electronic components, some of their main raw materials are flammable. Therefore, it is essential to fundamentally prevent fires by using high-quality power supplies, wires, ICs, connectors, and other flammable electronic components to reduce the failure rate and mitigate the fire probability of the LED display. Technically, throughout the entire installation process of a full-color LED display, professionals must provide installation guidance and inspection to prevent potential hazards and ensure the display's flammability is adequate.
